Mr. Ocampo is the Founding Partner of the firm. He currently handles the firm’s corporate law and commercial litigation practice and in particular, projects involving infrastructure, public-private partnerships, official development assistance, energy and transportation law. He likewise supervises the conduct of due diligence audits and advises in mergers and acquisitions. He is credited for his role in deregulating the Philippine aviation industry in the early 1990s when he secured several franchises for new airline operators, ending a monopoly of the national carrier spanning over 50 years. Since 2014, AsiaLaw has named him as a market leading lawyer in the Philippines primarily for his contributions in commercial and aviation law. They also named him as a Distinguished Practitioner in the field of Corporate Law and M&A. In 2018, 2019 and 2020, the Asia Business Law Journal acknowledged him as among the top 100 lawyers in the Philippines.
He obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Economics, cum laude, and his Bachelor of Laws from the University of the Philippines. He earned an Executive Certificate in Economic Development in July, 2020 from the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, Executive Education. In 1997, he completed an executive management program at the Asian Institute of Management.
Mr. Ocampo is a Director in various private corporations and an Independent Director in two publicly listed companies in the Philippines.
